Garden Reflections by Mey Mey Sok

28 04 2012

Hey there! My name is Mey Mey Sok and I’m a formal student at Thomas Starr King Middle School. At my school there is an afterschool program where we garden. We plant, harvest, cook, and paint. We plant and harvest vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Painting signs for the garden makes it more creative and beautiful. Sounds hard, huh? But it’s actually fun!

I’ve learned so many things in our garden. But the most important thing is that we should appreciate the environment. It’s hard work but it brings smiles to many faces when we work together. It is a great opportunity for students to help the environment that we are living in. Sometimes people take the environment for granted but we should stop and realize that we can help and make a change. In our garden, people get to realize it takes patience, a lot of work, and attention to create this healthy environment.
