Wow!! thats alot so they waste about 7,000 dollars a day. Thats alot, although if we use trays that are re useable all we have to pay is just the tray and you will only pay once instead of buying styrofoam trays which is 7,000 each day π

If LAUSD were able to use the money for a different cause, I suggest that they use it to give the underpaid teachers the right salary. This could also help LAUSD from giving the teachers lay-offs. I know one teacher here in this school who was given a lay-off. She’s an awesome teacher, and none of us want her to get fired.
If somebody from LAUSD is reading this, please take one of my suggestions, because King Middle School does not want to risk losing anymore of our wonderful teachers!!!
I think it would be great if our school stop buying styrofoam and start fundraising money so we can buy those yellow trays, I cant believe how much those styrofoam cost, with that money we can use to buy those recycable trays. With all those buying of styrofoam it could almost cost 7,000 every year or maybe even more. So lets raise up to make a change in school.

I think that LAUSD should use their money on reusable trays instead of buying the styrofoam trays.They only need to buy it once instead of a lot of times. If they use that we will have a lot of extra money. They should use it on reusable water bottles for the students and even maybe a filter to clean the water so students can fill the water bottles up.
We can use the 70 dollars that we save everyday using plastic, reusable trays on new games for the Wii and Xbox Kinect, buy even more Wiis and XBoxes, and also help this school become a cleaner school ground by hiring custodians and also try to afford more teachers to teach more children without problems or delays. We can also use the money on supplies for art classes like Animation and movie-making. We should also divide some of the money into improving our cafeteria cleanliness and make the food more delicious and nutritious. We can also use the money on sports supplies so the students can experience more exciting sports and have an improved type of sportsmanship. Let’s also boost our students’ studies by teaching our teachers some extra tips that can let them befriend the students while making it easier to study. We are basically using the money wisely while improving the environment around us. We are being beneficial and helpful. It is just so perfect!
We are very surprised of the amount of money the school uses each year for styrofoam trays, which is $12,600. But if the school starts to buy the reusable trays it will only cost us $700! That won’t just help us raise money but we will also help out the environment, and with the money that we save we can save our teachers’ and custodians’ jobs. Also, we can use the money to buy more trash cans so people don’t litter.We will be litter FREE!!!:D
The thing is, we love that idea, but we just can’t make it happen unless we start raising more money and persuading others to join in. That is why we are all going to these farmer markets and everything to start raising our money to buy everyone in TS King the reusable trays. If only LAUSD would stop buying Styrofoam trays and buy us reusable trays with all the money they can invest.

Oh, great, thanks! I really love that image – the trees and the polystyrene foam. Well done. We are a public elementary school in NE Baltimore. Our annual fundraiser is coming up and a teacher and I have a arts contest to see whose work will auction off for the most money. Because our school is environmental based we decided to use recycled material. Those polystyrene trays we get from the central district for lunches are our largest source of waste so we decided to use them for our contest. I don’t have images of our work yet (because we’re just getting started) but I want my post about it to have some nice images…that’s how I found your’s.
